Will
Fashion Cents Deluxe run on my
machine?
The minimum requirements for
Fashion Cents Deluxe are listed on the download page.
In Windows, if you want to see
if your machine qualifies, go to your desktop, right-click on My Computer,
and select Properties. The System Properties window should appear,
with the General tab selected by default. Listed in this tab are the
operating system version, CPU, and RAM. Compare these properties to
our minimum requirements to see if your machine meets the requirements.
Do I need
to uninstall the original Fashion Cents first?
No. Fashion Cents Deluxe is a
separate product, and is installed into a separate directory by default.
This allows you to install and try Fashion Cents Deluxe, without risking
the loss of your old high scores or game settings from the original game.
Of course, if you prefer to
uninstall the original game, that's fine too. Fashion Cents Deluxe does
not require anything from the old version.
How do I
install and run your game on Windows Vista?
When
you first launch the installer, the User Access Control may ask you
whether you want to Cancel or Allow the installation to proceed. Just
allow it to proceed. After install, and before you run the game, you may
want to use the Program Compatibility Wizard to set it to "Microsoft
Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" and "Run this program as
administrator". You can find more about the Program Compatibility
Wizard by clicking here.
How do I
install the full version of the game?
When you purchase Fashion
Cents Deluxe, you will be given a download link to the full version of the
game. The full version is separate from the trial version, and is
installed into a separate directory by default.
How do I
install the free add-ons?
The full version of Fashion
Cents Deluxe has a "Download Add-ons" button on the Choose
Options screen. When you click this button, the game will automatically
connect to our web site and check for new add-ons. It will then download
and install any add-ons that you don't already have. This button is only
available in the full version of the game.
Can I use
the original add-on packs with Fashion Cents Deluxe?
No, the add-ons from the
original Fashion Cents are not compatible with Fashion Cents Deluxe.
Why
am I having errors when I try to install your program?
The usual cause of
this problem is that the file download was incomplete. Check
the size of the setup file against the size given on our download page to make sure they match.
Why does the game run so slow?
The
most frequent cause of this problem is that the machine is does not meet the
minimum system requirements for the game. Refer to the question above.
If the game does meet
the minimum system requirements, but the game still runs slow, then it
might be that OpenGL acceleration is disabled on your system. Check to
see that your video hardware is configured properly.
If you are running on Windows, you can check it as follows:
- Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel, then click on Display.
- Go to the Settings tab, click on the Advanced button
- Go to the Troubleshooting tab
- Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to Full
- Click OK
If you are running on Linux,
refer to the documentation for your distribution.
You should also update your video driver to ensure you are running with the latest
version. On Windows, you can do this through the Windows Update feature of your
operating system (usually found under the Start menu). You can also do
this by checking the video card manufacturer's web site.
Why does
the game shear or flicker as the clothing items move?
The most frequent cause of
this problem is that the video card driver is not configured to sync with
the vertical retrace of the monitor.
If you are running Windows:
-
Right-click on the desktop
and select Properties.
-
Click on the Settings tab,
then click on the Advanced button. Depending on your video card,
look for a tab for your NVIDIA or ATI video card or a tab for OpenGL
settings. Click on that tab, then look for an option that will
enable syncing with the vertical retrace. It may contain the
terms "VBlank", "vsync", or "vertical
retrace".
If you are running Linux:
-
If you have a NVIDIA card,
run the nvidia-settings utility. Under OpenGL Settings, check
the "Sync to VBlank" box.
-
If you have a ATI card,
run the aticonfig utility.
For more information, refer to
the video card manufacturer's web site or documentation.
How can
I fix the jerky animation?
The jerky animation when
clothing items fly off to the shopping bag could be
caused by a number of things. Run through this checklist and see if
any of these suggestions help.
-
Close or stop any programs
that may be running in the background, like your weekly virus scan, CD
or MP3 player, instant messaging program, BitTorrent client, etc.
-
Disable any anti-aliasing
or other high-performance OpenGL settings (to find these settings on
your computer, refer to the question above)
-
If you are running in
Fullscreen mode
-
On Linux, try changing
your monitor refresh rate to a lower frequency
-
Try disabling the
vertical retrace sync (refer to the previous question)
-
Try running in
Windowed mode - uncheck the Fullscreen box on the Choose Options screen
in Fashion Cents Deluxe)
-
If you are running in
Windowed mode

your monitor refresh rate to a lower frequency

Why don't I have any sound?
First, check the
volume settings on your computer. You should check both
the volume control in your operating system, as well as the volume
setting on your speakers (if any). Also, check to see that
playback has not been muted.
If
the volume levels are ok and the sound has not been muted, then check the
sound setting in the game. In the Choose Options screen, there are options for turning both sound and music on/off.
If you are using Linspire as
your operating system, try running the game with the following command:
Why is the picture black, distorted, or otherwise messed up?
There
may be a problem with your video driver. You should update your video driver to ensure you are running with the latest
version. You can do this through the Windows Update feature of your
operating system (usually found under the Start menu). You can also do
this by checking the video card manufacturer's web site.
If
that doesn't help, then check your color setting. Our
games support 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit color settings. If your current setting is causing problems, try another
setting. In Windows, you can do this by going to the Control Panel and selecting
Display. Go to the Settings tab and change the Colors setting to one
of the other settings that we support.
