This was originally going to be a minor bug fix release, but when I was forced to change the save game format to fix a bug, I decided to make some enhancements! I've brought back Nasty Knuckles from Dirk Dashing 1, as well as the grenade launcher, which adds a new weapon and shakes up the gameplay quite a bit. For example, when I was testing, I used the grenade launcher against a riot guard, and the recoil kicked me backward into a camera's field of view and set off the alarm! So with cameras, laser tripwires, ceiling crawlers, spiders, and other new hazards in Dirk 2, you'll really need to be careful when you use the grenade launcher!

This is a minor bug fix release. Here's what changed:

  • Fixed: grenade launcher recoil no longer sends Dirk offscreen when he's near the edge of the map
  • Fixed: Dirk should get hurt when falling into the big acid pit in Chapter 4-3
  • Added a shadow for Bumper
  • Linux installer: replaced the installer-generated "dirk" script with a new "dirk.sh" script
  • Linux installer: now creates symbolic links using relative paths, to make it easier to copy/move the game's install directory
