Default Problems with Windows 7 (SOLVED)

I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and I can't get Word Play to register. I enter my name and code, it looks like it takes it, but when I start the game, it is still unregistered.

    Help!

Yeah, I had another customer e-mail me with the same problem this past weekend. I'm working on an update to Word Play to add support for Windows Vista and Windows 7. The update should be available very soon. I've already made the necessary software changes, and am in the process of testing it.

If you would like to try out the update before I release it, BuncoQueen, send me an e-mail and I'll arrange for you to download the new executable.

Sorry, AlleyCat, not at this time. I really need to get Dirk Dashing 2 done.

For the Word Play update, I'm mainly focusing on modernizing the existing Windows-only code to support the newer versions of Windows. I'm also going to modify it so that the full version will now be delivered as a separate download, so I don't have to manually generate registration codes anymore. That way, customers can receive the game right away, like the rest of my games.

However, I may choose to port this game to Mac and Linux after Dirk Dashing 2 is done. As I'm testing it, I'm realizing just how old this game is. It was one of my very first games, and I can see a number of things I would do differently now.

There are a few quick changes I'm going to make for the update, though. I'm changing a few of the sound effects, so the game will sound better. And I may make a couple of minor cosmetic changes. Hopefully, these quick changes will help make a better impression on potential customers when they download the demo and play it. I could really use the extra sales.

Oh well, didn't hurt to ask! LOL! Besides I'm eagerly waiting for Dirk 2 anyway!

Word Play v1.3 is available, and should run much better on Windows Vista/7. See the announcement here:

Thank you so much! I sure do like the smaller game companies like yours - a bigger company wouldn't have bothered updating an older game. I really appreciate it, because I still love Word Play! I hope you get rich so you can quit your other job and make more games!
