View Full Version : Do you use a PPC-based Mac?

I'm starting to think about potential projects that I would like to work on after Dirk Dashing 2 is released.

I've had a number of requests for an iPhone/iPad version of Fashion Cents, as well as requests to add my games to the Mac App Store. In order to do those things, I need to upgrade my Mac development tools, but the newer tools no longer support PowerPC-based Macs (only Intel-based Macs).

So I would like to know how many of my Mac customers would be affected if I no longer support PowerPC-based Macs.

If you're a Mac user, please vote. Your input will determine what will happen with my new games and game updates for your OS.

Thanks!

I think some people may be disappointed, but it's not unexpected. Apple already dropped support for PPC in their newer OS versions. Since they're not supporting it, I don't think you should have to worry about continuing to support it.

I would love to have Fashion Cents on my iPod Touch!

I'd love to see something along similar lines as Dirk -- perhaps a Pirate-type (like Money Island) or fantasy quest (lord of the rings) theme.

There may be other reasons to maintain PPC development, Wii, XBOX, ps3 ?

Well, I don't know if those platforms are PPC-based or not, but I doubt they run Mac OS X. So dropping PPC support for Mac OS X shouldn't affect those platforms, if I decide to develop for them in the future.
