By now you've probably noticed the spooky decorations on the site. I've also swapped out the smilies on the forum for some fun new pumpkins. If you don't see them, hit the Refresh button on your browser.
Some parents may wonder why I'm even displaying "Halloween" decorations. As a Christian, I know the origin of Halloween and what it stands for, and I certainly don't agree with the occultic practices that started it.
My family never celebrated Halloween when I was growing up. We never dressed up in cute costumes or went trick or treating. We never carved jack-o-lanterns or bobbed for apples. We never toured "haunted houses". We didn't participate in any of the Halloween traditions. But we still had a lot of fun together on October 31. We enjoyed watching the scary cartoons on TV, and watching all the cute kids in their costumes as they walked down the street. I remember the hand-crafted paper spiders and bats hanging from ceiling tiles in my school classrooms, and the silky spider webs draped across door frames. And I remember a few times when we got together with friends, told stories around a bonfire, and roasted marshmallows. That's what I remember about Halloween when I was growing up, and they're fond memories.
That's all I'm trying to capture here. I'm not going to advocate any Halloween practices, and I'm not going to depict witches or demons. I will certainly not display anything bloody, gory, or Satanic. But I think I can safely show a scary old house next to my company logo, a carved pumpkin on my home page, and some cute pumpkin faces for my forum smilies - all in good fun.
Speaking of fun, if you're looking for some spooky-themed games, here are a few games for Mac and Windows that might satisfy you:

Sorry Linux gamers, but I don't have any spooky-themed games for you. Maybe next year.
Enjoy!
