We are pleased to announce the release of the Fashion Designer Kit for Fashion Cents Deluxe! This kit provides instructions and everything you need to create your own custom add-ons for the game:
Detailed instruction manual
Doll image
Color palettes for clothing and trim colors
Part 4 in the instruction manual also tells you how to import your own custom add-ons (or add-ons created by other players) into Fashion Cents Deluxe (registered version only). So even if you don't want to create your own add-ons, you'll still want to get the kit so you can expand your dolls' wardrobes with fan-created content.
In order to acquire the Fashion Designer Kit, you must register (http://www.mygamecompany.com/forums/register.php) an account on our forum. Your account will allow you to download not only the Fashion Designer Kit but also the add-ons that other players create and upload to the forum. With your account, you may also upload your own creations and share them with other players, as well as participate in all of the forum discussions, polls, and events.
Happy fashion designing! We look forward to seeing your creations soon!

I agree! It's like I look forward to your add-ons to see how more challenging and visually breathtaking this game gets.

I tried it out and I just don't have a steady enough hand. My hat was a mess! Hopefully you fine folks will be a bit better at it than I.
My girl would love some new outfits!

I know what you mean, but I'm not so sure you need a steady hand. As long as you can get a basic shape, you can zoom in and plot points by hand. That's what I'm doing. I can't get a straight line or decent curve to save my life, but if I can get it close, I can zoom in to 800% and fix my line or curve where it goes the wrong way. It takes some time and a lot of patience, I'm discovering, but it is possible.
I agree with Victoria when she said in her blog that she had a new appreciation for what Troy does when he draws new clothes for Fashion Cents. It's a lot of work, at least for me. But I don't think it is impossible.
Don't give up too easily, thediva! You can do it!!

FYI - I updated the instructions in the Fashion Designer Kit to say that when you're drawing your clothing item, to make sure the line thickness is at least 2 pixels (so when you shrink it, your outline doesn't become too faint to see). You can get the updated instructions by re-downloading the attachment above. The only thing that changed was this one additional sentence in the instructions.

How fun. I'll have to try it out real soon. I've always wanted to make my own add-ons for this game. XD

Does this work with Windows 7? I can't seem to get it.

It should, but I need to update the instructions. On Windows 7, the files will need to go into a different location.
I finally have a copy of Windows 7 installed, and will be looking at what we need to do to officially support Windows 7 for all of our games. More on this in our June newsletter (which I'm going to be a little late in delivering).

I can answer this one. lol In order to make the Fashion Designer Kit work in Windows 7, you have to place the files in this folder:
C:\users\*Your Name Here*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Fashion Cents Deluxe\addons\
Why, oh, why they make it so complicated I will never know. However, there is a little more complication to this. The folder "AppData" (and only this one, but it makes the others hidden, too) is hidden. You have to unhide the hidden folder.

I've updated the directory locations in section 4 of the the Fashion Designer Kit instructions to match Fashion Cents Deluxe v1.1.1. (Sorry it took so long, but I forgot)
I uploaded a new FashionDesignerKit.zip file to replace the earlier one. For those of you who already have the kit, here's what changed:
On Windows XP, the add-on files need to be placed in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\MyGameCompany\FashionCents\addons
On Windows Vista/7, the add-on files need to be placed in:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MyGameCompany\Fa shionCents\addons
Note: if you don't see the Application Data directory on XP, or the AppData directory on Vista/7, go to Tools->Folder Options, click on the View tab, and click the "Show hidden files and folders" button. Then click OK.

I have wanted to be able to use the add ons since I bought the deluxe version probably 2 years ago and it would never work on Vista, now it does, thank you so so much!
