I just wanted to give you an update on what we've done in response to Reflexive's announcement (http://www.mygamecompany.com/forums/showthread.php?t=441)that they will no longer be selling games after June 30. As you may recall, we previously obtained a lot of our games through Reflexive's GameCenterSolution.

At this point, I've obtained direct affiliate agreements with about a dozen developers, and for most of their games, we have replaced the download and buy links from GameCenterSolution with the direct links to the developer. This means that, for these games, you now have:

access to the most recent version, with the latest bug fixes and the full set of features and enhancements
better support, because you'll be getting it directly from the developer
minimal or no DRM, so you won't be restricted with what you can do with a game once you purchase it

Also, in many cases, the prices aren't that much higher than the portals - in a few instances (like Bumps and First Class Flurry), the developer's price is even lower than Big Fish!

(Of course, we also have a lot of great indie games here that you won't find on any portal!)

But now I have to decide what to do with all of the other games in our catalog. There are a lot of developers that either haven't responded to my e-mails or are not interested in working with us. Their games account for about 2/3 of all the games in our catalog.

I think what I am going to do is scrub our catalog to remove some of the "dead weight". If a game has sold poorly, for whatever reason, I'll be removing it. If a game has sold fairly well, and it is available on Big Fish, then I'll switch the links over to Big Fish - in that case, the developer will just have to settle for the paltry royalty that Big Fish gives them.

So expect to see our catalog shrinking over the next few weeks. But that's ok - it will make it easier for you to find the good games (less games to sift through), and we will have fewer pages on our web site to maintain.

Fewer pages to maintain = Dirk 2 getting done faster? HINT, HINT!

Sites like Big Fish have too many games. A new game each day was fine for awhile, except that most new games are the same as all the others they already have. I'm sick of match threes, and I don't care for many of the new hidden object games. I like hidden objects, but it seems like the new ones all have lame plots and offer nothing new. I want games that are new and different.

That's why I still love Fashion Cents, even after all these years. It is still original and fun! Same with Inspector Parker, Cooking Academy, and Ancient Quest of Saqqarah. And of all the hidden object games, nothing still beats the original Mystery Case Files games!

I for one don't mind if you release fewer new games, as long as they are good ones. Just carry the ones that are original/different, or the best of the best!
