We have a new family member arriving on Friday! His name is Rocky, and he is a 13-week old Yorkshire Terrier.

Rocky comes from a litter of 5 puppies that were born in Colorado. Victoria's friend Lori knows the owners, and that's how we found out about the puppies and the owners' desire to find good homes for them. Lori is getting the runt of the litter, Zoe, for herself, and we are getting Rocky. The owners will be arriving from Colorado on Thursday to visit their friend Lori and deliver the puppies, and we will be picking up Rocky on Friday. We're not sure yet if we'll keep the name Rocky, or call him something else. We'll have to wait until we meet him.

This is our first puppy, so it's a little scary not knowing what to expect. We do know that when he is full grown, he will be about 8-10 pounds and his hair/fur will be lighter than it is now. Other than that, this is a new frontier for us. But we're excited to meet him! I'll post pictures on my blog when we get him!

Thanks! I suggested to Victoria that maybe we could call him "Dirk", but I don't think she's sold on that... I thought it was a good name. :)

haha I think it would be a good name for a big dog. Sorry, have to side with Victoria on that one. Congrats, though. He's cute.

Troy, I just saw your Puppy, he is so cute and Creston and I had one too, we got him when he was 4 months old. They are so smart and learn really fast. The pet store sold us a can, I can't remember the name of it, but we put news papers down and sprayed alittle on them and he would piddle on it. We did this about every 30 t0 45 minutes and in 2 or 3 days he was using the newspaper on his own. I was so surprised, maybe this will help you too.
We called ours " Corge "

Apparently, he's been undergoing crate training almost since he was born. Plus a lot of our friends have recommended it. I've been doing some reading about it on-line, and it sounds like a good program. So I think we will probably continue with that, especially since he is already used to it. We'll have to adjust our schedules, though, so we don't leave him in the crate longer than he can hold his pee.
