My Review
New Star Games follows the winning pattern of their other sports
games by combining a good quality sports game with a sim game in which you
must manage your career and life to excel in the game. The game features a
tour spanning 66 tournaments, and you will compete on hard, clay, and grass
courts. Although this lacks the variety of tournaments and court surfaces that
is available in Tennis Elbow 2011, the game
is still a satisfying tennis game to play. And it is the sim aspect of the
game that really sets it apart and provides a unique gaming experience. In the
sim portion of the game, you can spend time developing your character's skills
and abilities through various training exercises (see third screenshot). Your
expertise, or lack thereof, in various areas will impact how you play on the
tennis court. You can also spend your earnings in multiple ways - you can
spend time in the casino, go karting, play darts in the local pub, or even buy
and train race horses. These are fun mini-games, and the time you spend in
these activities affects your character's well-being and performance on the
tennis court.
For the most part, this game is very family-friendly.
I gave it
a Teen rating, however, because the sim part of the game allows you to gamble with your virtual prize money. In the casino, you can
play blackjack, roulette, or slots. These little mini-games are a nice
diversion and allow you to relax your fingers between matches; however, some parents may object to the gambling aspect of the game, even if it is with fake money.
So parents may want to check out this game themselves first.
