My Review
This is the fifth in the popular Mystery Case Files series of games, and it is
a sequel to the previous two episodes in the series (though you don't have to
be familiar with those games in order to appreciate this one). Like the first Ravenhearst
game, in which the lighthearted tone of the series was changed to a darker and
more supernatural tone, Return to Ravenhearst also marks a change in the
series - this time shifting toward a full-fledged point-and-click adventure
game. This gives you the freedom to wander from room to room and explore the
spooky mansion, which is huge (making this the largest game in the series so
far). Of course, the standard hidden object gameplay and challenging puzzles
are still present, so fans of the series need not worry. I rated this game
Teen due to some violent references to the kidnapping and murder of a woman
and two children, as well as the dark and supernatural tone of the story. It
is definitely a very creepy and twisted tale, so be forewarned. One other
thing I should mention: the game makes some insulting comments when you try
to do something that won't work, which may put off some players. Overall,
though, the game is very polished, with a lot of content and puzzles that will
really make you think.
