My Review
This is the fourth in the popular Mystery Case Files series of games, and it
is the darkest game in the series so far. Madame Fate is a pretty twisted
fortune teller who is a little paranoid. She thinks someone in the carnival is
going to kill her at midnight. You job is to investigate each suspect and
bring clues back to Madame Fate, so she can gaze into her crystal ball and see
where each person will be at midnight (although, no real detective would rely
on such a bizarre method for clearing or convicting suspects). This is where
the game earns its Teen rating - as Madame Fate gazes into the crystal ball,
she witnesses the gruesome death of each suspect, and then she makes some sick
jokes and laughs at their expense. If someone is plotting to kill her at
midnight, you can almost understand why. As
far as the gameplay itself goes, it is pretty standard - find the list of
items hidden in each scene. But I thought this game was one of the most
challenging because they hide the objects so well - they're in plain sight,
and you still can't see them! This episode also introduces morphing objects,
items in the scene which gradually morph into something else. If you happen to
spot one, you earn a bonus! If the business with the crystal ball doesn't
bother you, then you'll probably enjoy this game.
