My
Review
Atom
Zombie Smasher is a brilliant tactical strategy game that uses a
tower defense-like approach for its gameplay. This game makes you
think - it's your brain that will save the day, not your trigger
finger. In each level, the game field consists of randomly
generated city blocks shown with a top-down view. Zombies are
represented by small purple dots, and civilians are represented by
yellow dots. The gameplay consists of two stages. First, you are
shown where the civilians are and where the zombie forces will
enter the map, and you must deploy your forces. Choose a landing
site for your helicopter, as well as initial positions your
defensive units. When you're done, hit the button to begin stage
2. At this point, the zombie horde is unleashed and the citizenry
runs for your helicopter. As the situation evolves, you can move
your landing site, re-deploy your troops, or call down air strikes
to try to slow down the zombies. It may sound simple, and it may
feel that way when you first play it due to the intuitive
controls, but Atom Zombie Smasher can be very challenging.
I
debated what rating to give this game. I didn't see any foul
language, and there really isn't any blood, gore, or graphic
violence. All of the people are represented by dots - when they're
subverted into zombies, they turn purple, and when anyone is
killed, the dots vanish. But I finally chose to rate the game Teen
simply because the story and content is probably too intense for
children. Some of the weapons at your command consist of huge
bombs, orbital nukes, and napalm, and the game lets you destroy
pretty much everything on the map.
If
you're looking for an innovative new strategy game, give Atom
Zombie Smasher a try!
