Game Reviews

3 Days: Zoo Mystery (Mac and Windows) - $6.99 USD

Plunge into a mysterious detective story in this hidden object game, rich with atmosphere and intrigue. Along with Anna, find stolen property, solve the enigmatic riddle and perhaps you can expose the villain! You and Anna only have only 3 days to help her uncle unravel this complicated story and solve an old zoo mystery. Stop looking for a fascinating and dangerous adventure! It's already found you!

Our review: We’re suckers for a good mystery story, and this one’s great! It’s very well written, with excellent pacing and lots of different puzzles to solve besides the usual hidden object style of gameplay. The puzzles are integrated into the story in such a way that they make sense to the storyline, and they are not repetitive at all. Some of the puzzles also force you to think! As you explore the zoo, you’ll encounter a wide variety of locations, some of which you will revisit during the course of the game. Fortunately, the developers shake things up each time you revisit a scene so it still feels fresh and interesting. As you explore each scene, you may need to move some objects around or open cabinets and boxes to find everything. The developers were really creative! And with such a low price tag, you owe it to yourself to check this game out!

Mad Skills Motocross (Mac, Windows, and Linux) - $25.95 USD

Mad Skills Motocross is a side-scrolling motocross game that gives you unparalleled control of your rider and bike. Natural physics make the bike-to-rider interaction highly believable, while simple controls make it easy to race and do stunts. Collect achievement stars for tricks as you race to the finish line. With over 50 unique tracks, 5 divisions, 5 different motorcycles, and a built-in track editor, Mad Skills Motocross will provide hours of fun!

Our review: Mad Skills Motocross is a pretty fun motocross simulation. The first couple of tracks are fairly plain, but the deeper we went into the game, the more engaging the gameplay became. You can do back flips, forward flips, wheelies, and more. There are also several cool power-ups that give you big air or super speed. The game itself is clean; however, we gave it a Teen rating due to the ragdoll crashes that occur when you wipe out on your bike. The game does not depict any blood or gore, but it does portray the rider as a ragdoll that bends and tumbles in some amazing and sometimes horrifying ways. Parents may feel that the ragdoll physics are a bit too intense for smaller children. For older kids though, it can serve as a good illustration of what happens when you drive recklessly on a motorcycle.

Thomas and the Magical Words (Mac and Windows) - $19.99 USD

Thomas has gotten himself stuck inside the Magical Spells Word Book and it's up to you to get him out! Use the letters, as well as magical helper items to make a path that will lead Thomas out of the book and back to freedom. The longer the words, the faster you can get Thomas out of trouble. With a unique blend of puzzle solving and word unscrambling, Thomas and the Magical Words is one game that you wouldn't want to miss!

Our review: This game was a finalist in the 2006 Independent Games Festival (IGF) competition, and it reminds us a little of the Harry Potter books. Thomas is a young wizard who lives with his uncle Artem in a magical pet shop. One day, due to unfortunate circumstances, Thomas finds himself stuck inside a spell book. Now you have to help him form words to build a path out of the book, like you do when you play Scrabble. You can collect magic items to help you make longer words, and 2x and 3x items to boost your score. The game is family-friendly; however, parents should be aware that the introductory story sequence where Thomas gets trapped in the book might be a little too intense for smaller children. You may want to check it out for yourself and see if it is too scary for them. Once that story sequence is over, though, you'll discover that Thomas and the Magical Words is a very charming game.
