2009 Newsletter
President's Corner
By popular demand, we expanded our web site last month to include online games. These are online demos of some of the games you can purchase through our catalog. We currently have 11 games, and are working with a number of developers to bring more to our site. All of our online games are Flash games, and that means they will run on Windows, Mac, and Linux! By including online demos of our games, you now have a safe site where you and your children can play games
online.

In another recent development, you can now follow My Game Company on Twitter! I really like Twitter. I find it difficult to try to regularly post entries to my blog, mainly because I feel like I don’t have enough to write about. But Twitter posts are brief, and I find it much easier to blog daily using Twitter. You can follow us on Twitter

Preview: Fashion Cents: Gents!
Last month, we revealed that Victoria has been designing a sequel to our popular dress-up puzzle game, Fashion Cents! This time around, fans get to dress-up a bunch of guys with cool clothes like suits, tuxedos, top hats, sports gear, handyman clothes, and more. Here’s a screenshot from our latest development build that shows what the game will look like:

In the screenshot, you can see some (but not all) of the items that are available in the base set of clothes. By the time we release the game, there will of course be several add-ons available too. You can also see some of the new masculine colors we’ve added for this game, such as the golden brown shirt with the yellow tie on the second shelf, and the olive green cap and shorts on the 4th doll on the bottom row.
For the most part, the gameplay is similar to the original game. You have to combine randomly selected items of clothing into color-coordinated outfits, and you have to make a certain number of outfits to advance to the next level. However, we’ve added a few new twists to this game that will make it a little different from the original. For example, every so often a 10X multiplier will appear next to a doll, and for a limited time, all outfits made on that doll will be worth 10 times as many points. For those players that are used to planning ahead and setting up for big combo bonuses, they will have to decide if the 10X doll is worth discarding all of their careful planning.
Game development is nearly complete, and we will begin formal testing this week. Our goal is to release this game sometime in August. Stay tuned!
Game Reviews
If you enjoyed Rick Rocket, you need to check out the retro arcade games made by Puppy Games! These guys do a great job of taking simple arcade games from the 80s and 90s and updating them for more modern gamers. Their games are also available for Mac and Linux, so we encourage you to support their efforts! In this issue of our monthly newsletter, we’re going to look at two of their games, which happen to be two of our personal favorites.
Droid
Assault (Mac, Windows, and Linux) - $19.95 USD
The droids in Omni-Corp's factory warehouses are running amok! Take control of the droids using a remote virus and either destroy or capture all of the droids in each warehouse before production can begin again. Omni-Corp needs you!

Our review:
This fast-paced arcade shooter is a lot of fun! You start with one very basic robot, but it has a transfer beam that you can use to take over other robots, including ones with more advanced weaponry and abilities. Tactics play a huge role in this game; while it is fun to blow up the enemy robots, you really need to take over as many as you can because in later levels you’re going to need them. That means you have to get close enough to take them over without getting destroyed yourself, and that’s where the tactical strategy comes into play. As you gradually build your army of robots, you can switch between them and play as any robot you want, letting the computer run the others. If your robot is destroyed, the computer transfers you to one of your other robots. If all of your robots are destroyed, it’s game over! With 48 different robot types, 17 different power-ups, destructible scenery, environmental hazards like mines and turrets, and more, this game has a lot to offer. The replay value is very high, since you can play through this game using different robots and tactics each time.
Titan
Attacks! (Mac, Windows, and Linux) - $19.95 USD
As the last surviving tank commander on Earth, single-handedly turn back the evil invading alien army, drive back the Titans across the Solar System, and defeat them on their
homeworld...

Our review:
This game is the best Space Invaders tribute ever! Unlike the original, however, this game is not the same repetitive gameplay level after level. There’s a wide variety of alien fighters, bombers, and mother ships to battle, plus falling asteroids to dodge, escaping aliens to capture, sharp-shooter challenge stages to conquer, and more. You also earn bounty money that you can use to upgrade your ship with extra cannons, rockets, and lasers.
